“Welcome to the website for The Grange Barns holiday accommodation in the Mendips near Wells

We have two “cottages” in a recent conversion of a 150 year old large, Victorian barn in the grounds of our old farmhouse, standing near Priddy, high on the Mendip Hills above Wells & Cheddar. We opened the Grange Barns as self catering accommodation in early Spring 2011.

The cottage apartments’ accommodation has been accredited with a Tourist Board Four Star rating, and it blends a cottage-style in the living rooms & bedrooms with a contemporary style in the kitchens and bathrooms. Each cottage sleeps at least 4 people, all rooms have central heating, and the living rooms have lovely wood burning stoves in addition. The cottages are available individually or can be linked together for a larger family holiday.

This is a perfect base for relaxing and exploring this special part of Somerset. The cottages are ideal for family-oriented holidays, great for activity based breaks, or perfect for just settling down and unwinding in comfort – or maybe just break your long holiday drive to the south-west for a couple of days in the Mendips near England’s smallest, & possibly its prettiest, city.

Rental periods are very flexible, with Full Week Lets at £200-£450 p/w depending on season, and with Short Breaks available throughout the year. Tailoring to meet your needs should be very possible – and if you can’t see what you need on this website, please feel free to call us to discuss what you are looking for.

We are proud of the cottages and of the feedback we have received in our first year of business. As the resident hosts, we aim to provide you with a very warm welcome and a high standard of service.”

The Grange is a 200 year old farmhouse standing within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty high on the Mendip Hills above Wells in Somerset, about 20 miles south of Bath & Bristol.

The early Victorian barn adjacent to our house (to the left of the house in the picture above) has been converted to form two “cottages” which are newly available as self-catering holiday lets.

This part of the South West is very popular for historical sightseeing – with Wells, Cheddar, & Glastonbury close by, and with Bath, Bristol, Taunton and the Somerset coast all less than an hour away.

This is a very rural area, made for countryside activities such as hiking, cycling, caving, bird-watching etc, or just touring the small Somerset villages and country pubs nearby.
